A man sprained his ligaments while playing football and lost his leg

Dave Crum, 41, from Blackpool, UK, suffered from sepsis, was in intensive care seven times and lost his leg after a football match. This reports The Sun.

The Briton caught the infection after he sprained his inguinal ligaments while playing football. He went to a local hospital, where doctors gave him painkillers and sent him home. However, by evening the pain intensified. “On a scale of one to ten, where ten is the worst pain, I felt like 50,” says the man.

Kram called an ambulance. In the clinic, the man could not pass a urine test for seven hours, and his condition was rapidly deteriorating. A British man was diagnosed with necrotizing fasciitis, a bacterial infection that affects the soft tissues of the limb. Krum also developed sepsis, which occurs as a result of the spread of a local infectious process throughout the body. “Tests showed that my kidneys were failing and my liver was damaged, and over the next two weeks I underwent seven operations and resuscitations to relieve pressure in my leg due to infection,” the man recalls.

Despite the doctors’ attempts to save Krum’s limb, the leg still had to be amputated. The Briton was discharged from the hospital three months later. “Now I have a prosthetic leg, but I have not recovered. What happened to me will affect the rest of my life,” he says.

It was previously reported that a 34-year-old Spaniard died of a bacterial infection after undergoing cosmetic surgery. Immediately after the operation, Serrano began to complain of pain, dizziness and vomiting.
