I loved animals since childhood – I always fed the surrounding cats, dogs and pigeons and strove to bring home another homeless kitten. Mom traditionally pursed her lips and said that she did not need dirt in the apartment. I swallowed my tears and waited to grow up and be able to do what I want. As a result, my parents gave up: they bought me a then fashionable Siamese cat and could not understand why I was not happy with such an elite animal with a good pedigree.
veterinary college, and when she moved out from her parents, she became a zoo volunteer. She rescued, treated and adopted stray cats, fed and dripped the eyes of the surrounding ponytails, and, of course, got her own.
Gvozdik, Romik, Ball
Now I have three cats at home, each with its own history, and there are no funny ones among them. I found Black Carnation near the entrance in a terrible state: skinny, with eyes stuck together from pus. The kitten spent a month in the hospital, only one eye was saved.
Romik is an old man, a Persian with diseased kidneys, who was thrown out into the street by the owners. Snow White Ball is a pirate without a tail, the most active and hooligan.
Of course, my relatives do not really approve of me, but I understand that people cannot be changed, and my lifestyle is not suitable for everyone. I met my future husband in a clinic where he brought a toy terrier to be vaccinated. Thought it was a good sign: the man loves animals, just like me. Later it turned out that the dog belongs to his mother, and Igor is indifferent to four-legged animals. But even without this, we had so much in common that literally three months after we met, we decided to get married.
Cough, runny nose, conjunctivitis
Before the wedding, we spent time mainly with Igor or went somewhere to rest. After they decided to live with me, so as not to injure the animals by moving. Two days later, Igor began to sneeze and cough – I attributed it to a cold. Then my eyes turned red.
I don’t know how we didn’t immediately understand that it was an allergy. Perhaps because Igor often went on business trips and the seizures coincided with the arrival after them: it was easy to write off the air conditioner on the train. Eyes were opened by a doctor, to whom Igor turned for a cough. The tests revealed an allergy to the epithelium and dander of cats.
The allergist proposed a complex and expensive treatment regimen, but Igor said that he did not plan to “poison his body.” Of course, he understands my love for animals, but people should be more important.
These words were a blow to me. Who needs my, frankly, problem animals? Who wants to take care of them? And indeed, how can one betray a living being! They say it’s not true that cats become attached to the house, and not to the owner – I watched them refuse food and lie for days, grieving. refuses to take drugs and hopes that I will change my mind. But I will not get rid of the cats, even if Igor develops asthma. Here I am on the side of helpless animals, and not a stubborn adult man.
