Western allies could be supplying more weapons to Kyiv as the Armed Forces of Ukraine are struggling with Russian Lancet drones. Yuriy Sak, adviser to the Minister of Defense of Ukraine, said this in an interview with the British newspaper The Telegraph.
“Our intelligence says that the Russians have begun to invest more in the production of these UAVs. Let’s not praise the Russians, but this is a good weapon. We are concerned about anything that can damage our equipment or pose a danger to our troops,” he said.
According to Sak, the West could help Ukraine by increasing the supply of German Gepard self-propelled anti-aircraft guns or Australian Hawkei armored vehicles with electronic warfare systems. He also pointed to the reluctance of the Australian authorities to help Kyiv – recently Canberra refused to supply a number of equipment.
“Modern jamming equipment is a very important aspect of our anti-drone capabilities. But we really lack this, and we are counting on our allies, and I hope someday we will have more of them, ”said Yury Sak.
The day before, the head of the Joint Press Center of the Southern Defense Forces (UAF), Natalya Gumenyuk, reported that the RF Armed Forces had resumed attacks by Lancet strike unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs).Russian Ministry of Defense: Russian drone “Lancet” destroyed the American Avenger air defense system in the NVO zone Head of the press center of the Vostok group Alexander Gordeev said that the Russian drone…
Before that, the American portal 19FortyFive published an article by columnist Peter Suchiu about this drone. According to the expert, the Lancet and other kamikaze drones are increasingly being used by the Russian Federation during the NWO.
These UAVs allow for precision strikes and are very cheap compared to other weapons. For example, Suciu pointed out, the cost of one Lancet is about $35,000, which is much cheaper than the S-300 air defense missile systems, which are hit by drones.
“Inexpensive Lancet kamikaze drone… weighing 12 kilograms with a warhead of 3 kilograms… is increasingly seen as one of the most serious threats to Ukrainian troops,” the article says.
On June 30, RIA Novosti reported that intelligence of the Russian Airborne Forces discovered two Ukrainian M777 howitzers from the United States in the Kherson direction and destroyed them with Lancet kamikaze drones. The cost of one howitzer exceeds $3.7 million.
On the same day, the German magazine Spiegel reported that the Armed Forces of Ukraine had not learned to resist the Lancets. They can hit air defense systems with impunity, so the Ukrainian military cannot pull them closer to the front line.
“Now the attacks of these loitering shells annoy the Ukrainian soldiers so much that sometimes there is talk of some kind of crisis caused by the Lancets,” the article says. The Russian military destroyed the command and staff vehicle of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the Grigorivka area with the Lancet
Earlier, military expert Alexei Leonkov said in a conversation with Lenta.ru that the Lancet kamikaze drone takes the soldiers of the Armed Forces of Ukraine by surprise every time.
“They can’t bring him down. When the Lancet enters the target, it is always a surprise for the enemy, ”he stressed.
According to the expert, the “Lancet” is de facto a loitering ammunition, whose task is to detect the target and accurately defeat it.
The Lancet UAV was developed by the Russian company ZALA, which is part of the Kalashnikov concern. The public saw the drone at the Army-2019 exhibition. According to the creators, it is designed to destroy ground equipment and other targets at the forefront and close rear of the enemy. There are two versions – the heavier Lancet-3, which has a take-off weight of 12 kg, capable of flying at a maximum speed of 300 km / h and cruising – 80-100 km / h for 40 minutes. And the lighter “Lancet-1” – 5-kilogram, with a warhead reduced by a factor of three (1 kg versus 3 kg), and having a power reserve of 30 minutes.
