Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev admitted that the conclusion of a peace treaty between Baku and Yerevan could take place this year. The statement of the Azerbaijani leader is reported by TASS.
According to him, Armenia “had to make a very important statement” on the recognition of the borders of Azerbaijan, including the territory of Karabakh and eight Azerbaijani enclaves on the territory of the republic. Aliyev stressed that after such a statement “it only remains to put it on paper and sign it.” According to the president, if the position of the neighboring country does not turn out to be a “political maneuver”, then it will be possible to conclude an agreement before the end of the year. Earlier, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan admitted the possibility of achieving a stable peace with Azerbaijan. He stated that it is pointless to participate in negotiations and not to believe in the potential realization of the set goals.
