    All members of the 26th Chinese peacekeeping force in the DRC in position

    BEIJING, Sept. 22 — The second echelon of the 101-member Chinese 26th peacekeeping force in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) has safely entered the barracks of the Chinese engineering contingent in the area of mission from the city of Bukavu, South Kivu province of the DRC, on September 21, local time. Their arrival marks that all members of the 26th Chinese peacekeeping force in the DRC are in position.

    The 26th Chinese peacekeeping force in the DRC consists of an engineer detachment and a medical detachment selected from a brigade under the PLA Xizang military command and the general hospital of the PLA Xizang military command.

    On September 7, 109 members of the first echelon of the 26th Chinese peacekeeping force in the DRC, composed of 74 members of the engineering contingent and 35 members of the medical contingent, left Chengdu, in the province of Sichuan (southwest China). China‘s 25th and 26th peacekeeping engineering contingents in the DRC completed the mission handover on September 13 local time, and China‘s 26th peacekeeping engineering contingent officially took over the mission area. on September 19, local time.

    With all service members, the Chinese 26th Peacekeeping Engineer Contingent will engage in missions of technical survey, bridge construction, ordnance disposal unexploded ordnance and humanitarian relief over the next 12 months.

    On September 14 local time, China‘s 25th and 26th medical peacekeeping contingents completed troop rotation and mission handover to the Chinese level II hospital of the United Nations Organization Stabilization Mission in the DR Congo (MONUSCO) in Bukavu, South Kivu province in the DRC.

    So far, China has sent more than 3,000 blue helmets in the maintenance mission area of the United Nations peace in the DRC.
