    At least 34 dead as migrant boat sinks in Syrian waters

    Damascus, September 22 ​​The Syrian Ministry of Health issued a statement on the 22nd that a boat carrying migrants sank in Syrian waters, killing 34 people and injuring many others.

    The ship sank in the waters near the city of Tartus in western Syria, and 20 rescued people were taken to the city of Tartus for medical treatment, the statement said. Search and rescue efforts are still underway and the death toll could rise.

    Syrian Ministry of Health quoted survivors as saying , The accident vessel departed from Lebanon a few days ago, carrying citizens of many countries.

    According to the British “Syrian Observatory for Human Rights”, the ship planned to go to Cyprus carried 120 to 150 people, including citizens of Lebanon, Syria and other countries.
