Biden warns of 'nuclear Armageddon' threat

    Published on

US President Joe Biden warned of the threat of “nuclear Armageddon” to the world for the first time since the Cold War. His words are quoted by the press pool of the White House, reports TASS .

According to Biden, the direct threat of the use of nuclear weapons is the first time since the Caribbean crisis. He clarified that this is possible if “the situation really continues to develop along the path in which it develops.”

The American leader said that he knows Russian President Vladimir Putin “quite well” , and therefore he “does not joke when he talks about the potential use of tactical nuclear weapons.” He added that he could not imagine a situation in which its use “would not end with Armageddon.”

Earlier, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova accused Biden of distorting Putin’s words about nuclear weapons. In her opinion, the US President began his speech at the UN General Assembly by falsely quoting his Russian counterpart. She clarified that Putin did not state what the American head of state began his speech with and what he tried to attribute to him.
