    Harare, October 6 The Harare National Drug Warehouse Project in Zimbabwe assisted by the Chinese government held a grand handover ceremony on the 6th. Zimbabwean President Mnangagwa highly praised the Chinese government for Zimbabwe Provide international standard medical infrastructure.

    Before the ceremony, Mnangagwa, accompanied by Chinese Ambassador to Zimbabwe Guo Shaochun, visited the warehouse and its supporting facilities.

    Mnangagwa said that whether in Zimbabwe’s struggle for national independence or in the current economic construction, the Chinese people have always stood with the Zimbabwean people. He would like to express his gratitude to the Chinese government and people for providing “magnificent” drug warehouses that meet international standards.

    He said that the facility will significantly improve the operational efficiency of Zimbabwe’s health service system in accessing medicines and medical supplies, and further the progress towards universal health coverage.

    Zimbabwe’s Vice President and Minister of Health Chiwenga said the drug warehouse project will significantly increase Zimbabwe’s drug storage capacity and availability, ensuring there is a buffer stock of critical medicines.

    Guo Shaochun said that this modern drug warehouse is fully equipped and will play an important role in Zimbabwe’s medical and health services, especially in the fight against emergencies such as the new crown pneumonia epidemic.

    According to the data provided by the project contractor, the Harare National Drug Warehouse Project, assisted by the Chinese government and undertaken by Anhui Foreign Economic Construction (Group) Co., Ltd., is located in the south of the Harare Central Hospital, accounting for With a land area of ​​about 43,000 square meters and a total construction area of ​​about 13,700 square meters, it will become the largest drug storage and transportation center in Zimbabwe.

    The project mainly includes 2 warehouses and supporting facilities. Warehouse No. 1 meets the storage standards for COVID-19 vaccines, and warehouse No. 2 is a normal temperature warehouse for dangerous goods. The project started in August 2019 and will be completed in April 2022.
