Beijing, September 28 The international seminar on “Promoting exchanges and mutual learning among civilizations and building an open and inclusive world” was held by video on the 27th. This is a parallel meeting hosted by the United Nations Association of China during the 51st session of the UN Human Rights Council. Participants held discussions and exchanges on topics such as respecting the diversity of civilizations, promoting exchanges and mutual learning among civilizations, and promoting open and inclusive development.

Wang Chao, President of the Chinese People’s Institute of Foreign Affairs and President of the United Nations Association of China, said that the diversity of civilizations has contributed to the progress of mankind. The Chinese nation advocates that different countries rationally handle the differences between their own civilizations and other civilizations, insist on seeking common ground while reserving differences, and learning from each other’s strengths. All countries, big or small, strong or weak, rich or poor, are equal members of the international community and have equal rights to participate in international affairs.

Paul Gerbaldo, Director of the Centre for Digital Culture Studies at King’s College London, said that respecting the diversity of civilizations is an important prerequisite for the harmonious coexistence of civilizations. Countries should respect the uniqueness and autonomy of different civilizations and abandon the “The theory of superiority of civilizations”, to carry out equal dialogue among different civilizations, to achieve true openness and inclusiveness.

“We live in a diverse world, but we should not be divided by difference and diversity.” Felim Heard, Lecturer, School of Applied Social Studies, National University Cork, Ireland Meier said that countries should strengthen communication, embrace cooperation and achieve inclusive development.

Clifford Krykoff, director of the Washington Institute for Peace and Development, said that at present, the trend of world turmoil and change continues to evolve, and it is the common desire of the international community to seek cooperation rather than confrontation; Only by deepening people-to-people and people-to-people exchanges can we consolidate the foundation for world peace and development.

Zhang Bo, vice president of the University of Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, said that education is an important channel for exchanges and mutual learning among different civilizations. We should enhance mutual understanding and friendship among people of all countries, especially among young people from all countries, through educational cooperation. Further promote inter-civilization exchanges, mutual learning and mutual learning.

Harvey Zodin, a senior researcher at the China and Globalization Think Tank, said that we should uphold an open and inclusive attitude, combine new technologies with traditional modes of communication, vigorously promote people-to-people and cultural exchanges, stimulate education, social , enterprises and other fields, and enhance the friendship and mutual trust between peoples of all countries.
