Georgia is exposed to constant risks when it announces its aspiration to become a member of NATO. Irakli Kobakhidze, head of the ruling Georgian Dream party, spoke about this, RIA Novosti writes with reference to the Georgian First Channel.
As the politician clarified, as long as Tbilisi expresses its desire for NATO membership and is not part of the North Atlantic Alliance, there is a constant risk. “Therefore, the longer this situation persists, the longer the risks will persist,” he explained.According to the deputy, if Ukraine and Georgia had been admitted to NATO in due time, then there would have been no military conflicts in the region. Earlier, the former commander of the US Army in Europe, General Ben Hodges, said that Western countries and NATO are losing their influence in Georgia, their situation has deteriorated significantly compared to what it was a few years ago.
