German gasoline prices rebound as energy tax cuts expire

    Published on

Beijing, September 2. With the expiration of short-term measures to reduce German energy taxes and fees, gasoline prices in Germany rose again on September 1, and the price per liter exceeded 2 euros (about 13.8 yuan).

DPA quoted data from the All-German Automobile Club as reporting that in September On the morning of the 1st, the price of E10 gasoline containing 10% bioethanol sold at many gas stations was higher than 2 euros per liter, compared with less than 2 euros the previous day. Diesel prices in many regions exceeded 2.1 euros per liter on the 1st, and even reached 2.3 euros per liter in some areas.

In May, Germany introduced short-term measures such as energy tax reductions and monthly bus passes, aimed at reducing the heavy burden of soaring energy prices for businesses and households. Gasoline and diesel prices, however, fell only briefly in the early days of the measure, before rising again.

German inflation has hovered around 8% in recent months, and prices have continued to rise. Some experts expect German inflation to rise again as the measures fail. (Lin Shuting)
