    In Kazakhstan, the ruling party “Amanat” nominated the incumbent head of state Kassym-Jomart Tokayev as a presidential candidate. The delegates of the extraordinary XXIV congress voted for the corresponding decision on Thursday, October 6.

    The initiative at the congress was voiced by the chairman of the party Yerlan Koshanov, writes “Gazeta.Ru“.

    “By the decision of the 24th Congress of the Kassym-Jomart Party, Kemeluly Tokayev was unanimously nominated as a candidate for the presidency of the Republic of Kazakhstan,” leads NUR.KZ words of Askhat Oralov, executive secretary of the Amanat party.

    Following this party, the initiative was supported by the People’s Party of Kazakhstan.

    Extraordinary presidential elections in Kazakhstan will be held on November 20. November 19 will be declared a day of silence before voting.

    On September 1, it became known that Tokayev proposed holding early presidential elections in the fall of 2022. According to the head of state, it is necessary to reduce the mandate of the presidential term to one, it will be increased from five to seven years. He also added that in mid-2023, a political reset of all state bodies will take place in Kazakhstan.

    On the same day, political scientist, independent expert on Central Asia Arkady Dubnov explained the reasons for holding early elections in Kazakhstan. Dubnov expressed the opinion that in this way the incumbent president of the republic is trying to gain his own political legitimacy.

    In March, Tokayev proposed strengthening the role of parliament in the country and moving from a super-presidential to a presidential form of government. According to the head of state, the country needs to rebuild the political model of Kazakhstan’s development. The transition to a presidential republic with a strong parliament will ensure an optimal balance of institutions of power and contribute to the development of the country, he noted. that the country is much more European than they think in the West.
