Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida spoke at a press conference concluding the G7 summit. His words are quoted by RIA Novosti.
During his speech, Kishida commented on the tragedy in Hiroshima, when an atomic bomb was dropped on the city in 1945. However, in his speech, he did not mention that it was the US pilots who did it. “After this [bombing] by the efforts of the inhabitants, starting with the “hibakusha” – the survivors of the bombing, Hiroshima turned into this beautiful city. It has become a city of peace. Who could imagine such a thing?” – he said.At the same time, the politician said that, being the head of the Japanese Foreign Ministry, he held a meeting with colleagues in the G7, and a month later he arranged the first visit to the city of the then US President Barack Obama. During the summit, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky compared Hiroshima, which was hit by the American nuclear bomb, with Artyomovsk (Ukrainian name is Bakhmut). He noted that the photographs of the Japanese city remind him of the situation in Artemovsk.
