Dakar, December 4th Bamako news: developed by the Senegal River Basin Organization, financed by the Export-Import Bank of China, PowerChina International Engineering Co., Ltd. (PowerChina ) The completion ceremony of the Maliguina Hydropower Station under construction was held on the 3rd in the Jiamu area of the Malikai Region.
At the completion ceremony, Mali’s Transitional Prime Minister Maiga thanked China and other countries in the region for their strong support for the construction of the Goina Hydropower Project, and thanked the Chinese construction companies for their positive contributions to the implementation of the project. He said that the completion of the Goina Hydropower Station marks new achievements made by countries in the region in joint development of regional resources, development of renewable energy, and promotion of regional sustainable development.
Chinese Ambassador to Mali Chen Zhihong said in his speech that China and African countries have carried out fruitful cooperation in the field of infrastructure for a long time. The completion of the Goina Hydropower Station adds new splendor to China-Africa infrastructure cooperation and reflects the positive results of China-Africa joint construction of the “Belt and Road”.
The Goina Hydropower Station is located on the Senegal River in Mali. The project officially started in November 2016. In April this year, all three units of the hydropower station entered the stage of commercial operation. After the project is put into operation, the annual power generation capacity can reach 621 million kWh.
Prime Minister Amadou Ba of Senegal, Prime Minister Mohamed Bilal of Mauritania, and Acting Prime Minister Bernard Gumou of Guinea attended the completion ceremony.
