No-confidence vote against Estonian prime minister fails

    Published on

In Estonia, a vote of no confidence initiated by the opposition to Prime Minister Kae Kallas failed. This is reported by the portal ERR.

The vote was supported by 34 MPs, while 57 MPs voted against. One parliamentarian abstained from voting, nine others were absent. The Estonian opposition initiated a vote of no confidence in the head of government on Monday, June 19. The document argued that the actions of the cabinet of ministers could exacerbate the demographic crisis, and Kallas herself unfairly compares the opposition with dictatorial regimes. Earlier it became known that the economy of some European countries officially entered into recession. In the first quarter of 2023, Estonian GDP decreased by 0.6 percent, while in the last quarter of 2022 there was a decrease of one percent.
