    Published on

The military-industrial complex of the DPRK handed over to the army 30 complexes of super-large multiple launch rocket systems (MLRS). This is reported by the news of the Central News Agency of Korea (KCNA).

The handover ceremony was timed to coincide with the VI Plenum of the Central Committee of the Workers’ Party of Korea. It is noted that these MLRS have a caliber of 600 millimeters and are capable of launching missiles with tactical nuclear warheads. North Korean leader Kim Jong-un noted that the range of these MLRS is such that the entire territory of South Korea is in the affected area.

The published footage shows that the MLRS are mounted on tracked platforms. Each machine carries six missiles.

In fact, these complexes turned out to be the largest in their class. For example, the Russian MLRS “Smerch” and “Tornado-S” have a caliber of 300 millimeters, the American HIMARS – 227 millimeters, and the Chinese WS-2D – 425 millimeters.

Previously, Kim promised to increase the production of nuclear warheads exponentially. Such a statement was made during a meeting of the ruling party of Korea, a few hours after the launch of several ballistic missiles towards the Sea of Japan. Speaking to party members, Kim also announced plans to build a more powerful intercontinental ballistic missile.

On December 23, Pyongyang threatened to respond with nuclear weapons to nuclear weapons. The test of a new intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM) Hwaseong-17, conducted in November, proved North Korea’s readiness to respond appropriately to nuclear threats, the North Korean military said. According to the Japanese Ministry of Defense, the range of the missile can reach 15,000 kilometers.
