After the explosion of the car of the writer Zakhar Prilepin, the district police officers quickly detained the suspect – he turned out to be 29-year-old native of Ukraine Alexander Permyakov. On Sunday, May 7, MVD Media published footage in which law enforcement officers revealed the details of the detention.

Ekaterina Sirotina reported that at about 12 o’clock the department announced an interception plan, after which she, together with the senior district police major Alexander Sokolov and police lieutenant Dmitry Voevodin, advanced to the village of Kozlovo.
As Alexander Sokolov said, they arrived in the village of Kozlovo. It was dirty there, because of which the law enforcement officers decided to look at the road in order to drive into the forest. There was a man walking towards law enforcement agencies.
“He aroused our suspicions. Initially, this person told us things that are not true: that he was catching partridges in the pond. But there was no lake in this area. There were no partridges, respectively, either,” said Dmitry Voevodin.
As specified, the police asked the man to provide documents, in the end it turned out that he had two passports – Ukrainian and Russian.

On the morning of May 6, an Audi Q7 car in which Prilepin was driving was blown up in the Nizhny Novgorod region. As a result of the accident, the driver, Alexander Shubin, died.
Soon, police officers detained one of the suspects in the assassination attempt, Alexander Permyakov. He admitted that he acted on the instructions of the Ukrainian special services. On the road along the route of Prilepin’s car, he planted an explosive device, which he set off remotely.
Prilepin was hospitalized at the same time, he has a severe concomitant injury, a mine-explosive wound, contusion of both lungs, numerous fractures and bruises. It was reported that he had already been successfully operated on.
The car, in which the writer Zakhar Prilepin was, remains at the scene, which is cordoned off.
In turn, the Russian Foreign Ministry held Kyiv and the West responsible for the attack against Prilepin.
