Interior Minister Vladimir Kolokoltsev decided to present for the award the police officers who distinguished themselves in the disclosure of the explosion of the car of the politician and writer Zakhar Prilepin. This was stated by the official representative of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia, Irina Volk, RIA Novosti reports.
She said that they were three police officers from the Nizhny Novgorod region, namely, Lieutenant Colonel Ekaterina Sirotina, Major Alexander Sokolov and Lieutenant Dmitry Voevodin. Volk clarified that these law enforcement officers found and detained a previously convicted man suspected of involvement in blowing up the writer’s car near the forest. “The order on awarding distinguished employees with departmental awards will be signed by the Minister of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation in the near future,” the official representative of the Ministry of Internal Affairs noted. A man is suspected of blowing up a car, who was detained near a forest during the Interception plan in the Nizhny Novgorod region. The suspect in the explosion was a native of Ukraine, previously convicted of robbery in his homeland. He has already admitted his guilt and told about the recruitment of one of the Ukrainian special services. The explosion of the Audi Q7 car, in which Prilepin and his 27-year-old driver Alexander Shubin were, occurred on May 6 in the Nizhny Novgorod region. As a result of the incident, Shubin died, and the writer received numerous injuries. The Investigative Committee of Russia qualified the incident as a terrorist attack. Responsibility for the explosion was claimed by the Atesh terrorist organization from Ukraine.
