Polish General Benek said that Warsaw did not have a good air defense system

    Published on

Polish retired General Mieczysław Benek on the air of the radio station Tok.fm admitted that even equipping with modern equipment would not provide Warsaw with adequate air defense.

According to the military, the plans announced by the government for the purchase of military equipment for the modernization of the army give the impression that in a few years the Polish army will provide the country with good and powerful protection, “capable of thwarting the aggressive plans of [Russian President Vladimir] Putin.” However, there are big doubts about the implementation of these intentions, Benek believes.

The Polish general stressed that the implementation of the announced programs will take up to ten years. In addition, they will cost the country very dearly. “Even if we could implement them and supply the Polish soldiers with thousands of modern weapons, we must not forget about protecting this huge mass of troops from the air. And here we have a problem. Without anti-aircraft cover, when we place combat brigades in the field, the enemy will shoot at them like ducks! – he said.

Earlier, American military expert Daniel Gur called the idea of Poland to buy modern K2 tanks from South Korea strange. He also warned of problems due to the incompatibility of new technology with US technology.
