Prigozhin: PMC “Wagner” deploys columns and retreats to field camps

    Published on

Units of the PMC “Wagner” stop the movement in the direction of Moscow, deploy columns and go to field camps, said the founder of the formation Yevgeny Prigozhin. The audio recording is posted in the Telegram channel associated with it.

“PMC” Wagner “wanted to disband. We left on June 23 for the “march of justice”. In a day we walked, not reaching 200 kilometers to Moscow. During this time, we have not shed a single drop of the blood of our fighters. Now is the moment when blood can be shed. Therefore, realizing all the responsibility for the fact that Russian blood will be shed on one of the sides, we deploy our columns and leave in the opposite direction to the field camps, according to the plan, ”

    – said Prigogine.

    New Minsk Agreements

Shortly before Prigozhin’s statement, the press service of the President of Belarus reported that Alexander Lukashenko had been negotiating with Yevgeny Prigozhin during the day, the parties reached some agreements. So, it is reported that the stop of the Wagner columns was the result of negotiations. In addition, PMC fighters received security guarantees – which ones are not disclosed.

“This morning, Vladimir Putin briefed his Belarusian counterpart on the situation in southern Russia with the private military company Wagner. The heads of state agreed on joint actions In the development of the agreements, the President of Belarus held talks with Yevgeny Prigozhin. Negotiations continued throughout the day. As a result, they came to agreements on the inadmissibility of unleashing a bloody massacre on the territory of Russia. Prigozhin accepted Lukashenka’s proposal to stop the movement of armed persons of the Wagner company and take further steps to de-escalate the tension on the table – an absolutely profitable and acceptable way to resolve the situation,” Minsk said.

The Pul Pervogo Telegram channel, close to Lukashenka, reported that at 9 pm Putin and Lukashenka had telephone conversations for the second time in a day.

“The President of Belarus informed the President of Russia in detail about the results of negotiations with the leadership of PMC Wagner. The President of Russia supported and thanked his Belarusian colleague for the work done,” the message says.

Shortly after the reports from Minsk and Prigozhin’s commentary, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov also spoke out.

According to him, the case against the founder of PMC “Wagner” about an armed rebellion will be dropped, and the participants in the campaign against Moscow will not be prosecuted “taking into account their merits at the front.”

“The guarantee of Prigozhin’s departure to Belarus is the word of the President of the Russian Federation,” Peskov said.

He also stated that personnel changes in the Ministry of Defense “were hardly discussed” during Lukashenko’s talks with Prigozhin. It also became known that the President of Belarus and the owner of a Russian private military company have personally known each other for about 20 years, so the negotiations took place.

No new address by President Putin is planned, the Kremlin specified. Peskov said that the rebellion would not affect military operations, the Russian operation in Ukraine would continue.

Mutiny of the head of Wagner PMC

On the evening of June 23, Prigozhin announced that the RF Ministry of Defense had struck at the Wagner rear units and announced a “march of justice”.

The Ministry of Defense stated that the reports spread on behalf of Prigozhin about “the RF Ministry of Defense struck at the rear camps of the PMC Wagner” are untrue and are an informational provocation. The next day, the Defense Ministry announced that the Armed Forces of Ukraine took advantage of “Prigozhin’s provocation to disrupt the situation” and concentrated the forces of the 35th and 36th marine brigades at the starting lines for an offensive in the Artemovsk (Bakhmut) area. In addition, the Ministry of Defense appealed to the Wagner fighters, stating that they were “tricked into Prigozhin’s criminal adventure and participation in an armed rebellion.” The agency asked the PMC fighters to contact their representatives to return to the points of permanent deployment.

The FSB called Prigozhin’s statements an “information provocation”. The department also opened a criminal case “on the fact of calling for an armed rebellion.”

Later, the Prosecutor General’s Office reported that the FSB Investigation Department had opened a case against Prigozhin under Article 279 of the Criminal Code on organizing an armed rebellion.

On the morning of June 24, President Putin made a video message – he said that Prigozhin’s actions were regarded as a betrayal and a “stab in the back.” Support for the president was announced in the State Duma and the Federation Council, as well as the heads of a number of regions.

Prigozhin’s actions were supported in Kyiv. So, adviser to the Minister of Defense of Ukraine Yuriy Sak said that the “rebellion” is a good chance for the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The same was stated by the press secretary of the eastern grouping of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Serhiy Cherevaty. Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmitry Kuleba said that any problems of Russia are in the interests of Ukraine.
