Today marks the 50th anniversary of the English comedian Noel Fielding, best known for his TV series Mighty Bush.
He began his comedian career in stand-up in the late 1990s, and played his first role in the surreal television series Gas in 1997. A year later, Fielding met Julian Barrett – he invited Noel to create a creative duet, being impressed by Fielding’s performance on stage. Some time later, during the first joint performance, the characters of the future “Mighty Bush” also appeared – zoo workers, jovial bon vivant Vince Noir, played by Noel Fielding, and nerdy jazz fan Howard Moon (played by Barrett).
They soon met comedian Rich Fulcher, and the three of them started doing Mighty Bush plays. Soon, Fielding, Barrett and Fulcher began to perform with Mighty Bush on radio, and from there in 2004 migrated to television. The show has had cult status from the very beginning. There were three seasons with 20 episodes each.
In addition to participating in the Mighty Bush show, Noel Fielding, according to his own stories, is known as the grandson of a French woman, a psychonaut, an amateur painter, an honorary master of arts, a bass player and a DJ.
