    Russian player of the NHL club was punished for pushing an opponent

    Russian defender of the National Hockey League (NHL) New York Islanders club Alexander Romanov was punished for pushing an opponent. This was reported on the website of the league.

    The incident occurred on Saturday, October 10, during a preseason game against the New York Rangers (1 :3). Romanov used a power move against the forward of the rivals Vincent Trocheke. For this, the Russian was fined five thousand dollars.

    22-year-old Romanov was traded to the Islanders from the Montreal Canadiens in July 2022. The player signed a three-year contract with the club, according to which he will earn $2.5 million a year.

    In May, the Russian Washington Capitals forward Yevgeny Kuznetsov was also fined $5,000. Forward penalized for high-sticking against Florida Panthers forward Noel Accari.
