    Spain's high-speed train partially interrupted for hours due to fiber optic cable theft

    Madrid, August 8 The Spanish Railway Infrastructure Administration said on the 8th that due to the theft of some optical cables, the high-speed railway from the capital Madrid to the northeastern region of Catalonia was temporarily interrupted that day.

    According to the police report, a high-speed rail line optical cable was stolen in the early morning of the 8th in Tarragona Province, Catalonia Autonomous Region. About 600 meters long optical cable and signal line were stolen, affecting the High-speed rail communication, signal and other facilities. The high-speed train line between Madrid and Catalonia was suspended for several hours, affecting thousands of passengers. The high-speed rail has now resumed operation.

    Catalonia police arrested a 19-year-old man at the scene of the theft that day and recovered some of the stolen materials. The man has been charged with crimes including violent robbery. Police are still investigating the incident further.
