On July 15, the Basmanny Court of Moscow arrested people suspected of preparing an assassination attempt on the life of the editor of the RT television channel and the Rossiya Segodnya agency, Margarita Simonyan, and journalist Ksenia Sobchak. This was reported to Izvestia in the press service of the court.
We are talking about six defendants, some of whom are minors. They were taken into custody until September 14, 2023 on charges of committing crimes under Part 2 of Art. 213 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation.
In satisfying the petitions of the accused and the defense to choose a different preventive measure not related to detention, as well as in the transfer of minors to parental care in accordance with Art. 105 of the Code of Criminal Procedure of the Russian Federation, denied.
The resolutions have not entered into force.
Earlier that day, the FSB announced the arrest of members of the neo-Nazi group “Paragraph-88” – accomplices of the SBU, who were preparing assassination attempts on Simonyan and Sobchak. The service noted that for the murder of one journalist on assignment, a reward of 1.5 million rubles was expected.
One of those who prepared the crime, Mikhail Balashov, admitted that he acted on the instructions of the Ukrainian special services. The man, born in 2005, explained that he organized the neo-Nazi group Paragraph-88 and attracted people under the age of 18 to participate in it.
They carried out a series of attacks on persons of “non-Slavic appearance”, after which the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) contacted them and offered contract killings of Russian journalists, Balashov explained.Share:
