In Moscow, a court delivered its first verdict in a high-profile investigation into an attempted raider takeover of a major Merlion company. Grigory Zherenov received two years and six months in prison due to the fact that he actively cooperated with the investigation, is a participant in hostilities in Chechnya and Donbass, where he became disabled.

The Khoroshevsky District Court of Moscow considered the criminal case in a special order against Grigory Zherenov, having found him guilty of complicity in falsifying evidence in a criminal case on a grave and especially grave crime (Article 33 and Article 303 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation).

At the first stage, the attackers, according to investigators expected to receive from it about 15 billion rubles, and then 2% of the annual turnover.

Grigory Zherenov apologized to the victims in the criminal case – the co-owners of the Merlion company Oleg Karchev, Vladislav Mangutov and Alexei Abramov, as well as to top manager of the company Boris Levin.

At the same time, he separately apologized to the family of his former colleague in the special forces of the DPR “Pyatnashka” Anatoly Dashkovsky, who died in the battles for Donbass in 2017, on which he 202 0, he gave false testimony as one of the participants in the organization of the attempted murder of former Merlion CEO Vyacheslav Simonenko.

According to investigators, a group of swindlers, led by Kirill Kachur, a former investigator of the Central Directorate of the ICR near Moscow, tried to seize Merlion’s assets, who involved the investigator of the Investigative Committee of the ICR for the North-Western District of Moscow, Alexei Nesnov, in the case. The latter opened a criminal case on the attempted murder of Mr. Simonenko, who was in conflict with the co-owners of Merlion. The reason was not only the statement of the entrepreneur, but also the confession of Grigory Zherenov, who reported that he, together with Anatoly Dashkovsky, set fire to the country house of Mr. Simonenko, allegedly hoping to destroy him along with his family. Despite the fact that this crime has nothing to do with the district Investigative Committee of the ICR, it was in it that a criminal case was opened on murder and destruction of property (Articles 105 and 167 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation). As a result, businessmen from October 2020 to February 2022, as the investigation has now established, were illegally prosecuted for committing a particularly serious crime, after which they were all fully rehabilitated. In turn, Messrs. Zherenov and Simonenko ended up in a pre-trial detention center, and Messrs. Kachur and Nesnov, who had fled abroad, were put on the wanted list. position. He was promised a reward of 15 million rubles, however, only 5 million rubles were paid.
