In the conditions of magnetic storms, the risks of sudden surges in pressure and the development of cardiac catastrophes increase, Andrey Tyazhelnikov, chief freelance specialist in primary health care of the Moscow Department of Health, told RIA Novosti on May 23.
“Particularly sensitive to magnetic storms are persons suffering from pathology of the heart and blood vessels, who tend to both increase and decrease blood pressure. On such days, the likelihood of sudden surges in pressure, the development of cardiac catastrophes increases sharply, ”he said.
The specialist noted that relatively healthy people can also experience the effects of magnetic storms. They may feel headaches, dizziness, increased heart rate, heart rhythm failure, unexplained anxiety or, conversely, a depressive mood, mood swings, restless sleep, ups and downs in blood pressure, joint pain. Earlier that day, Tyazhelnikov advised to reduce the use of strong tea and coffee, replacing them with herbal teas or infusions during magnetic storms. People with low blood pressure should take toning agents, such as lemongrass tincture, the doctor added. According to him, during magnetic storms, it is especially important to measure your blood pressure in the morning and evening.
