Acting head of the Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR) Denis Pushilin signed a law on the establishment of the DPR medal “For the Liberation of Artemovsk” (the Ukrainian name of the city is Bakhmut). The corresponding document is published on the website of the head of the region.
It is noted that the description of the medal, its drawing, as well as a sample certificate for it is approved by decree of the head of the DPR. The law specifies that letters of awarding a medal must be accompanied by a list of persons presented for awarding. The document must contain the full name of the person, date of birth, military rank and position, if any, as well as a summary of the merits. In addition, the list indicates the type of award – posthumously or not posthumously. On the night of May 21, the Russian Ministry of Defense confirmed that Russian forces had taken control of Artemovsk. The battles for the city lasted 224 days. Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu previously noted that control of the city would allow the Russian military to advance deep into Ukraine.
