The first municipal animal shelter will appear in the Krasnodar Territory – it will open in the Khostinsky district of Sochi. This was announced by the mayor of the city Alexei Kopaygorodsky, Interfax reports.
According to the mayor, an administrative building, a veterinary station, an arena-reception and storage facilities are currently being built on the territory. A quarantine zone will also be created there and spacious enclosures will be organized. It is expected that in September the shelter will be able to accept the first 500 dogs. “We select personnel responsibly in advance, creating a pilot territory in the city. For animals that have no one to take care of, excellent conditions will be created,” said Kopaygorodsky. He added that, in particular, a special play area and a walking area will be created on the territory, where future owners will be able to get acquainted with their new pets. In June, volunteers from a Novosibirsk shelter rescued an abandoned Alabai with a rotting paw. Unknown people tied the dog near the Bugrinsky bridge, and passers-by ignored the situation. As a result, the paw began to rot in the animal, it suffered from hunger and thirst.
