Russian President Vladimir Putin is fully aware of the state of affairs at the Zaporozhye Nuclear Power Plant (ZNPP). This was stated by Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Rafael Grossi on Sunday, November 20.
“Certainly. He knows every detail [of what is happening], which amazed me, ”he said in an interview with CBS News.
Grossi added that the Russian leader is aware of both the layout of the plant and access to electricity, external energy sources.
Grossi met with Putin on 11 October. At the same time, he called important contacts with the Russian leader to ensure the physical security of nuclear facilities. The head of the IAEA noted that Russia has always been the main actor in terms of technical and other areas of the agency, as well as one of the main interlocutors in many areas of the organization’s work.
Putin himself stressed that Russia has always advocated that countries have equal access to peaceful atom. He noted that now there are elements of excessive dangerous politicization of what is connected with nuclear activity, such rhetoric should be reduced. The Russian leader also announced Moscow’s readiness to discuss all issues related to the ZNPP.
Russian administration. And on October 8, the country’s government ordered the creation of the Federal State Unitary Enterprise Zaporozhye NPP.
Zaporozhye NPP is the largest NPP in Europe in terms of the number of units and installed capacity. She was taken under the protection of Russian forces as part of a special operation in the Donbass. Moscow emphasized that the withdrawal of the Russian military from the facility could turn into a disaster, as Kyiv could use the station for monstrous provocations.
