The head of the Russian Premier League (RPL), Alexander Alaev, praised the fifth consecutive victory of Zenit in the championship. His words are quoted by the “Championship”.
“The team demonstrated a confident game throughout the season and achieved historic success by adding a second star to the club’s logo,” Alaev said. He also congratulated the Blue-White-Blues, their supporters and club leaders on their victory. Earlier, on May 7, Zenit beat Spartak in the match of the 26th round of the RPL and secured the championship ahead of schedule in the 2022/2023 season. Petersburgers take first place in the standings with 64 points. From the nearest pursuers – CSKA – they are separated by 13 points. Zenit has been winning the Russian championship since 2019. All this time the team is headed by Sergey Semak.
