Russian spies are caught one by one! Another success for investigators from the Prosecutor General’s Office and the National Security Agency.

A spy was caught acting under the guise of an athlete, ”Polish Prosecutor General Zbigniew Zebro said on social networks.

The official said that there was a spy network operating in Poland, and Sergeev is already the 14th person to be arrested on this charge. The press service of the minister-coordinator of the special services reported that “the detainee is a citizen of Russia and a professional player of the hockey club of the first league.” It is alleged that he “carried out tasks on Polish territory to identify critical infrastructure in several voivodeships.”

It is also specified that Sergeev has been in Poland since October 2021. He was charged with participation in an organized criminal group and in the activities of foreign intelligence against the interests of the Polish Republic.

The hockey player faces up to 10 years in prison, while he is arrested for three months.Ukraine demanded to exclude Russia from UEFA and FIFA

Dmitry Peskov, press secretary of the President of Russia, commented on the information about Sergeyev’s detention. In a conversation with reporters at a briefing, he expressed confidence that the Embassy of the Russian Federation in Warsaw would find out the details of the incident. At the same time, Peskov noted that it is not easy for Russian diplomats to work in the Polish capital due to the “rabid Russophobic position” of local authorities.

The former coach of the hockey player Oleg Komissarov, who worked with him in the youth team of Spartak, spoke about the situation. He admitted that he had lost contact with his ex-ward, but he could not imagine him as a spy.

“I haven’t heard anything about Sergeyev. For some reason, I lost contact with him. I think it stopped on his part.

I can’t even imagine him being arrested for espionage”,

    – Komissarov is quoted by Sport-Express.

State Duma deputy, head of the Committee on Physical Culture and Sports Dmitry Svishchev stated that the Polish authorities are overzealous, trying to persecute everyone who is related to Russia. He stated that the Russian side should make every effort to release Sergeyev.

“Unfortunately, the Polish authorities, in their desire to persecute everything connected with Russia, cross all borders. You still need to think about it in order to see a spy in the athlete and arrest him. It’s not a big deal.

The heads of the Polish secret services want to give the impression that the Russians need to learn some secrets in their country. We have known all their secrets for a long time.

Now it is definitely necessary to release our athlete. I am sure that the Ministry of Sports and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs will provide comprehensive support for the demands to release our athlete with his subsequent return to his homeland. He has nothing to do with espionage, ”Vprognoze.ru quotes Svishchev.

The official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, in turn, promised that the hockey player would be provided with all the necessary assistance. She stated that Russia was protesting to Warsaw and demanding an explanation.

“The Russian Embassy in Warsaw is investigating the circumstances of the incident. The Russian citizen will be provided with all necessary assistance.

As the prosecutor of Poland stated, this is “the 14th case of the arrest of Russian citizens”. We express our strong protest to Warsaw. We demand to immediately provide the Russian side with comprehensive explanations, ”the Telegram channel 360tv quoted Zakharova as saying.
