Soldier of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) Vasily Leniv, who was captured by the Russian military near the settlement of Spornoe in the Donbass, said that he was very surprised by such a humane attitude towards him in captivity, RIA Novosti reports.
“Initially, I thought they would be treated badly, but it turned out to be the opposite. They were treated well: fed, watered. Attitude, on the contrary, is normal, human. We considered them enemies, but, on the contrary, they treat us like human beings,” he noted. According to him, only about a third of the information that the Ukrainian media tell, including that regarding the conditions of detention of prisoners of war in Russia, is true. Leniv explained that because of this, the military of the Armed Forces of Ukraine imagine the situation at the front differently than it actually is. “They exaggerate, so Ukrainian television is lying. He lies a lot,” he concluded. Earlier, Leniv said that the fighters of the Armed Forces of Ukraine on the front line in the Donbass are experiencing problems with supplies, they do not have enough weapons, food and water. He clarified that their unit had old Soviet machine guns, of heavy weapons – only a hand-held anti-tank grenade launcher (RPG) and a few shells. The butt of a Kalashnikov machine gun was broken during the shelling.
