US Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen commented on Russia‘s possible involvement in the blockage of tankers in Turkish waters. Her words are reported by RIA Novosti.
According to Yellen, there is no reason to suspect Russia of being involved in Turkey’s decision to ban ships from transiting the Mediterranean Sea. She noted that Istanbul shares Washington’s interests in maintaining a well-supplied oil market.
Since December 5, tanker congestion has formed in Turkish territorial waters after a number of countries imposed a price ceiling on Russian oil. Later it became known that the reason for it was the refusal of insurance companies from the European Union to provide a letter of insurance for the passage of tankers through the territorial waters of Turkey.
