The United States and EU countries reacted to the statement of Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko about the beginning of the process of transferring Russian nuclear weapons to the territory of his country. In Washington, the actions of Moscow and Minsk were described as “provocative”, in Brussels – as “leading to increased tension”, and in Berlin – as “erroneous”. The authorities of the Russian Federation and Belarus, meanwhile, insist that the measures they are taking do not violate their international obligations, in contrast to the actions of Washington and its NATO allies.
