Tokyo, December 6 The two major stock indexes of the Tokyo stock market rose slightly on the 6th. The Nikkei 225-stock average closed up 0.24% from the previous session, while the Tokyo Stock Exchange’s stock price index rose 0.12%.
Affected by the overall decline in the three major stock indexes in the New York stock market overnight, the Tokyo stock market opened lower on the 6th. A weaker yen against the dollar benefited export stocks, coupled with increased speculative buying, driving the broader market higher. In the afternoon trading session, the broader market fluctuated slightly.
At the close, the Nikkei stock index rose 65.47 points to close at 27885.87 points; the Topix stock index rose 2.32 points to close at 1950.22 points.
In terms of sectors, most of the 33 industry sectors on the Tokyo Stock Exchange rose, with insurance, steel, and other product sectors leading the gains, while mining, service, and precision machinery sectors led the decline.
