“We will not succumb to blackmail and intimidation”

Russia will not succumb to blackmail and intimidation, but will continue to fight for its freedom for the sake of a great future. Vladimir Putin stated this on September 21, speaking in Veliky Novgorod at an event on the occasion of the 1160th anniversary of the birth of Russian statehood. Politicians and experts interviewed by Izvestia expect that the announced partial mobilization will help to complete the struggle for the liberation of the inhabitants of Donbass faster. In addition to participating in the festive event, the president also discussed the economic situation in the country with the heads of leading engineering schools. According to the president, there are no serious failures after the departure of foreign partners in the Russian Federation . Nevertheless, he admitted the possibility of a delayed negative effect. On September 21, Vladimir Putin visited Veliky Novgorod on the occasion of the 1160th anniversary of the birth of Russian statehood . Speaking at a gala concert in front of local residents, he recalled: it was the Novgorod land that was the source of the civilization of Russia.

tragedy of civil strife, the president recalled. However, in the end, each time everything ended with the revival of the fatherland. At the same time, specific individuals who led the country at one time or another played an important role in this. Nicholas II, Lenin, Stalin,” Vladimir Putin admitted. – Apparently, not much time has passed from a historical point of view in order to give full-fledged objective assessments, devoid of the current political situation. But all of them – statesmen, workers, warriors, pioneers, scientists, ascetics and saints, and most importantly, all of our people – made Russia a great world power, determined its fate.

Over its history Russia has clearly learned many important lessons. First of all, according to the president, weakening one’s sovereignty, even temporarily, is mortally dangerous, since the very existence of the country is threatened . Now, for the sake of the future of Russia and the salvation of the people of Donbass, the military and volunteers are participating in a special military operation, the president recalled. They, the head of state stressed, are fighting bravely, shoulder to shoulder – like brothers.

we will not lose our sovereignty, and by strengthening it, we are developing our country,” Vladimir Putin said, noting that patriotism is the essence of the character of the Russian people.

The President added: Russia will fight for its freedom for the sake of a great future . The previously announced partial mobilization should help complete the special military operation faster, Sergei Tsekov , a member of the Federation Council committee on international affairs, told Izvestia. This, in his opinion, was a difficult but forced decision, since Russia is fighting not only with Ukraine, but with the entire NATO, which provides assistance to Kyiv.

In the expert community partial mobilization was also considered an adequate solution. No one will call on students, and about 300 thousand experienced fighters are really needed to qualitatively change the situation at the front, Dmitry Orlov, head of APEC, told Izvestia . It is also logical that mobilization began immediately: waiting for the results of voting in referendums would create uncertainty, he concluded.

Despite the military operation, the country remains open for dialogue. However, as the president emphasized, Moscow is ready for an honest partnership with those who support equal cooperation. )

On the same day in Veliky Novgorod, Vladimir Putin met with the leaders of advanced engineering schools and their industrial partners. These educational institutions appeared only this year at the initiative of the Ministry of Education and Science. Until 2024, 33 billion rubles have been allocated for the project.

The president discussed the economic situation in the country with experts. Despite the fact that some foreign companies decided to leave Russia, this did not lead to serious disruptions, he noted. Although the head of state acknowledged that there are certain difficulties that have yet to be overcome . According to him, the authorities are also aware of the medium-term delayed effect of a possible negative.

However, Vladimir Putin reminded those present that foreign enterprises would return sooner or later. Therefore while there is an opportunity, it is necessary to fill the vacated niches with domestic companies , he is sure.

In addition, the Russian leader on the whole suggested a positive view of the effect of Western sanctions on the Russian economy. In his opinion, the restrictions forced Russia to develop its own intellectual product, and not rest on the laurels of mineral resources. The president cited the aviation industry as an example, since since Soviet times Russia has not produced competitive aircraft engines for civil aviation. even more comfortable – Boeing and Airbus. But if we don’t do it ourselves, it will never appear , the president said. – There would be no happiness here, but misfortune helped.

By the way, new technologies are needed in other areas, including agriculture. The grain harvest in Russia in 2022, according to the president, may exceed 140 million tons. At the moment Russian agriculture has turned into a high-tech industry and has become competitive in world markets .

In addition, Russia is to a certain extent the leader in the field of unmanned vehicles , Vladimir Putin said. In particular, the president noted the work of KamAZ and Yandex. At the same time, unmanned technologies now need to be developed not only in the automotive, but also in the aviation and marine industries, the head of the Russian Federation added.

The meeting also discussed the issue of training young personnel. One of those present suggested attracting schoolchildren to the sites of advanced engineering schools, which so far focus mainly on students. The president liked this idea. In his opinion, high school students sometimes give odds even to students. In addition, this can help children quickly decide on their future profession, Vladimir Putin believes.
