The main sensation of the past week was the discovery of more than a hundred secret Pentagon documents online. Some of them concern US and allied military assistance to Ukraine and the preparation of Kyiv’s counteroffensive. Others contain information regarding the Middle East and China, as well as surveillance of partners. What happened is called the biggest leak of secrets since Edward Snowden, a resounding failure of the American intelligence agencies and an impressive success of Russian intelligence. According to Western media, the disclosure of classified information caused a stir in the White House and the Pentagon, and the relevant departments have already launched an investigation. In Moscow, the scandal was reacted with restraint. According to the press secretary of the President of the Russian Federation Dmitry Peskov, even before that, Russia had no doubts “in the direct or indirect involvement of the United States and NATO in the conflict between Russia and Ukraine.”
