Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Valery Zaluzhny published a video on his Telegram channel, in which, presumably, he checks the actions of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, performing “the most difficult tasks.”
“Together with the Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Lieutenant General Sergei Shaptala, we worked in groupings of troops performing the most difficult tasks in areas where the most fierce fighting is taking place,” the video description says.
On the footage, Zaluzhny is shown on the street and indoors, where on the wall you can see the date of the video recording – June 17th. It also indicates that the 479th day of hostilities is underway.
In turn, the head of the Main Intelligence Directorate of Ukraine, Kirill Budanov, gave an exclusive comment to the Kyiv Post portal:
“Now a special detachment of immortal commanders is being created in Ukraine – Valery Zaluzhny, myself, Stepan Bandera, Symon Petlyura, Ivan Mazepa. Therefore, the Russians and their propagandists will have a lot of work to do in a nervous, hysterical environment. A detachment of immortals will come at night into the dreams of Russian citizens … and bring them nightmares!
There was no confirmation that Budanov and Zaluzhny were alive for about a month.
Where are Zaluzhny and Budanov?
Kyiv has repeatedly denied information about their injury or death. So, on June 16, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky said that they were present at a meeting of the military cabinet. However, the head of state did not provide a photo or video that could confirm this.
“There was another event today, another item on my schedule that has not yet been reported. This is a military office. Our commanders: Generals Syrsky, Tarnavsky, Zaluzhny, Shaptala… And there was Budanov,” Zelensky said.
At the same time, Andrey Yusov, a representative of the Main Intelligence Directorate, on the air of a telethon on Ukrainian TV, said that Budanov was “in excellent health”, he had a “perfect appetite” and he was “all at work.”
On May 10, it became known that Zaluzhny refused to participate in a meeting of the NATO Military Committee at the level of chiefs of general staff. Rumors about his injury or death began to spread in Telegram channels. RIA Novosti on May 25, citing a source in law enforcement agencies, reported that he had received a head injury and shrapnel wounds as a result of a strike by the Russian Armed Forces on a command post near the village of Posad-Pokrovskoye near Kherson back in early May. The source also noted that the commander-in-chief will live, but will not be able to fulfill his duties.
On June 15, an employee of the Russian law enforcement agencies, citing sources in Ukrainian intelligence, told RIA Novosti that Budanov was wounded during a Russian strike on the GUR building in Kiev, the missile “flew into the office next to him.” According to him, after Budanov was wounded, he was taken by helicopter to a military base in Poland, from where he was already taken to a hospital in Germany. Russian President Vladimir Putin spoke about the strike on the building of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ukrainian Defense Ministry on May 30.
“We have already talked about the possibility of striking at decision-making headquarters, at decision-making centers. Of course, the military intelligence headquarters of Ukraine, which was hit two or three days ago, also belongs to this category, ”Putin said.
On June 17, a former deputy of the Verkhovna Rada and a member of the Right Sector (the organization is banned in Russia), Ilya Kiva, citing a source at the Ukrainian Embassy in Germany, said: “Budanov died … they will hide this fact as much as possible.”
On June 18, Putin admitted that Zaluzhny was abroad: “You ask him where he is, for this you need to switch to a foreign language. I think he is abroad. I could be wrong”. At the same time, the British newspaper The Daily Telegraph stated that they could not confirm whether Zaluzhny was alive.
In turn, RIA Novosti reported that the reception of the Bundeswehr hospital in Berlin did not confirm that Budanov was undergoing treatment with them. As the correspondent of the agency notes, the man who received the call “already after the first dictated letters of the last name and first name left, and after conferring with someone for about a minute, he returned with an answer.”
The hospital, located in the central Berlin district of Mitte, is known for the fact that since 2014 the Ukrainian military has been treated there.
