The Chinese authorities opposed the transformation of the Internet into a battlefield, as well as the creation of a digital iron curtain. This was announced on Monday, July 24, by the head of the office of the foreign affairs commission of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, Wang Yi.

“The key concept of the Internet is openness, the Network is not a new battlefield for the digital iron curtain,” CGTN quoted him as saying during a meeting of high representatives of the BRICS countries in charge of security issues.

He emphasized that China is opposed to any kind of technological or digital hegemony. Wang Yi also pointed out that Beijing highly values the security of the Internet, and would like to improve cooperation with developing countries to promote global network management. Before that, on June 16, the Ministry of Digital Development of the Russian Federation announced the emergence of more and more complex options for cyber attacks on Russia. The department noted that hackers are not limited to DDoS. Thus, after the start of the special operation of the Russian Federation, there was an increase in the number of cyber attacks on the Russian Federation.

In February, Andrei Krutskikh, Director of the International Security Department of the Russian Foreign Ministry, said that the prospects for a dialogue between the Russian Federation and the United States on cybersecurity are deteriorating. He added that this is happening at the initiative of the United States.

Back in December last year, Deputy Foreign Minister of the Russian Federation Oleg Syromolotov noted that the number of cyber attacks on Russia in 2022 increased by 80%. According to him, against the backdrop of a special military operation, our country faced unprecedented external aggression in the information space.Share:
